Redesigning AIB home page

Quick Caveat

This project is a tad unusual in the fact we were tasked with redesigning the organisations homepage only, none of the internal page were part of the scope. It wasn’t our recommendation or our normal approach but it was a foot in the door type project - to show our strengths!

The Problem

The AIB website hadn’t been updated since 2014 and had become very dated - It wasn’t mobile friendly, it was difficult to update and was limited in its functionality. It wasn’t performing for the company’s needs or it’s customers. AIB wanted to create a dynamic homepage that would enable personalisation and improve the overall user experience of the site.

Assumption were being made on what the user wanted to see - there was a wealth of information that could be used but it wasn’t being utilised.

My Process

Define

  • Conducted an ideation and exploratory workshop with stakeholders to uncover key business priorities

  • Completed user interviews and usability tests to understand the customer needs and their current pain points.

  • Explored best in class with extensive competitor analysis.

Develop

From here I created wireframes to visually represent our proposed solution in desktop and mobile. Wireframing our approach is the simplest way to visually represent our recommendations. Our recommendations demonstrate how the user flow should work with a fresh take on layout, content hierarchy, navigation, taxonomy, and calls to action. This allows us to focus on the structure and rational behind our design decisions (backed by research and best practice) with out getting distracted with style, images and colour. After we presented the wireframes we consolidated the stakeholders feedback and finalised the wireframes.

Design

Once the stakeholders were happy with the wireframes I moved onto the visual design for this project. We presented in detail our recommendations for typography, photography style, copy.
